Shadow of a Doubt: Chapter One

In which a favor is asked of a broken heart.

I've been asked to expand my little notes here, so here we go!

This page introduces Richard, who ironically gets more panels than Drake, who is a much more important character. But at this moment, Richard is pretty important. Long run, Drake.

I like how this page came out in many ways. I did my best to make Rich not so strictly a bipedial bear. I gave him a long tail (like the Greek ursual constellations! bear like, but not really a bear!) and four spikes. I'd like to assure my dear readers that Rich is not this much of a pansy in general. Just when Hanna is involved. She broke his heart, so he's a bit shakey and wussy around her.

And my god, her bitchiness is amplified a zillion times when around him, isn't it? She's had an emotional day, and he's an easy target for some cruelty to vent her frustrations. They used to be a very loving couple, and she used to smile a lot. But, she also used to think that he was a lot more human. Ah, her silly prejudice.

A note about Rich being an heir to a demon: he'd get a title in Hell, and control over the souls and imps that his father commands and tortures. But, being an heir in Rich's case is basically an honorary title amounting to crap. His dad, the demon, is immortal and won't likely step down.

My favorite panels are a tie between the one where Hanna's glaring at the apologetic looking Richard, or the next panel where she's even more pissy.

My least favorite is when Rich, in human form, tries to be polite.
